Why Elect Karen for

Soil and Water Conservation Supervisor?

Karen is "rooted" in our community having graduated from Plant High and USF College of Engineering. She and her husband Mike chose to raise their four children in Hillsborough County. Karen has a long track-record of community service in Hillsborough County and will ensure our critical natural resources are preserved for our children and future generations to enjoy.

Karen is licensed by the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer and certified by the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation in Stormwater, Erosion, and Sediment Control. Karen is the best candidate to supervise the agency: she is technically competent, she will provide necessary oversight, and she will be a good steward of our precious resources.

What Does the Soil and Water Conservation District Do?

Advise local landowners on nutrient management strategies and erosion prevention practices.

Advocate for the environmentally-healthy best practices such as crop rotation, cover crops and no- or minimum tillage systems.

Educate and inspire others to become good stewards of our natural resources to ensure a sufficient and nutritious food supply.

Karen represented residents of Hillsborough County for six years on the HART Board. During her tenure she chaired the Finance & Governance Committee and was Vice-Chairman of the 14-member Board. Karen worked with HART's management to ensure HART was financially sustainable and balanced the mobility needs of all residents in the community.

Karen will bring her executive board  experience to the Soil and Water board and ensure our domestic food production thrives while our precious natural resources are preserved.
